league has its fair share of people who wanted to stabilize team rocket through the power of love and friendship. it's a hypocritical take that priam will gladly welcome since he's on the opposing side.

on the other hand, there are a few that will do the opposite. those hellbent on the eradication of the terrorist organization through all means possible are surprisingly a minority, but they do exist.

Thomas Benoit 's name appears as one of them.

his arrival on the outskirts of petalburg was noticed, and as the best equipped person to deal with him nearest to the location, priam was sent to deal with the problem.

"hey!" priam shouts as he engages the enemy. "you're not supposed to be here!"

with the number of elite four members he has engaged in a fight by now, he might as well be considered to face the final challenge and attempt to reach the rank of the champion. unfortunately, it's a dream beyond his reach by now.

he throws a pokeball straight to thomas' direction, releasing the pokemon within mid-trajectory and revealing the shadow braviary. a rock tomb is thrown at their direction, walling them off from advancing further.

Rocket had already gained too much ground as it was. Conning the people of Sootopolis into allowing the organization to occupy their city for three years. This recent takeover of Petalburg, with the assistance of the scum from Kanto Rocket. The attack which saw his good friend, Shalin Nariya , end up as one of Rocket's prisoners.

Thomas couldn't allow them to make further inroads into the Region. Thomas remembered their last attempt on Littleroot. If they were able to take Oldale, then they'd have another shot at Littleroot.

Thomas glowered in the direction of the blue-haired man that called to him. Though he didn't immediately speak, the white-hot fury in his eyes said all that needed to be said. Move aside, or be crushed in his wake.

Thomas quickly moved back away from the Rock Tomb being set in his way. The Kalosian grabbed a Pokeball of his own, tossing it over the newly formed wall, like he was tossing a grenade. A throw developed through his years of training in the Kanto Region.

After the Pokeball landed on the opposite side of the wall, Tapu Koko emerged from within. The Island Deity let out a furious, powerful cry, as Electric Terrain was summoned across the battlefield. Dewford's Deity looked up at the corrupted Braviary, fury in their eyes, as they lunged towards the Avian with a brutal Quick Attack.

a metallic sheen covers the ruby feathers of braviary's steel wing as it defends against the tapu koko's attack.

iron feathers were shed upon impact, shaken off by the sheer force of braviary's deflection when it attempted to throw the legend away from it.

the properties of a shadow pokemon had obviously taken hold on the pokemon to augment it. the aggression of one also surfaces with a loud war cry when it closes the distance to strike with the same steel wing.

"you're not one of 'em talkative ones, huh? that's fine. we can have it your way."

he supposed the previous elite four member wasn't really known for being sociable, like Melody Miro or Navy. it feels weird when there was no trash talk to be had.

it makes it more difficult to dissociate.

On the other side of the wall, Thomas grabbed a Pokeball. This one was a regular Pokeball, one that had been used for a very recent capture, unlike the other Pokeballs, which were either customized, or otherwise weathered with age. The Crawdaunt looked to the wall of rocks. Thomas gave the crab a nod, prompting it to smash the barricade with a well-placed Crabhammer.

As Thomas approached, the look on his face said it all. "You! You're the rat that infiltrated Dr Morales' lab!", Thomas spat at the blue-haired man.

Tapu Koko tucked themselves into the shell, bracing themselves for the Steel Wing from the Shadow Braviary. In retaliation, the Island Guardian opened their shell again, and unleashed a blinding Dazzling Gleam.

"I'm looking for an Akira Miyazaki! One of the Kanto Rockets that stayed behind!", Thomas revealed to the Beast venomously. His tone left little to speculate on what he wanted with the man. "You can either tell me where to find him, or I can beat it out of you, choice is yours!"

"it's less of an infiltration and more of a day job," he explains. "i was already there when you made the antidote with mister Lucas Lane. in a way, you kinda owe me"

no one would accept this explanation since his identity is now closely attached to the organization. benefit of the doubt is a double-edged sword, though they are right to doubt it.

loyalty is one of priam's better traits, for better or for worse.

"miyazaki? who's that?" priam asks, stifling a chuckle. "some random grunt? you'd rather get mad at a nobody over the big names?"

the braviary cries when the flash of light throws it back. in retaliation, it whips up a strong hurricane with winds powerful enough to carry stray branches and debris from the ruins of war along its path.

"what makes you confident that i won't just lie?"

segments from the broken wall of rock tomb join the cyclone that batters everything around them, including both the opposing pokemon, with priam taking cover behind the sturdier trees of the route.

"You must've been Lane's delivery boy, then.", Thomas replied. "I remember every face in the lab, and you weren't among them.", Thomas added coldly.

A precaution he took, one that clearly worked. After what happened with the Guzzlord Sample, Thomas did not take any chances with the project being sabotaged by Rocket.

"Your leaders will gets what's coming to them, I promise you! But my beef with Miyazaki is personal!", Thomas declared, eyes ignited with unholy wrath. "If you insist of trying to bullshit me, then I'll rip the information out of your head by force!", Thomas retorted harshly.

He was prepared to utilize his Alakazam, if it came to it.

As the Braviary kicked up the Hurricane, the Tapu Koko Mirrored the Move, creating a hurricane of its own, in an attempt to counteract the effects. Despite this, a piece of debris managed to graze Thomas, cutting into the left side of his face. Thomas didn't seem fazed by the laceration.

The Crawdaunt had it worse. A few pieces of rock struck the crustacean. In retaliation, the Crawdaunt charged the Braviary, attempting to sever one of his wings with a Night Slash.

double teamed by thomas' pokemon, the braviary was pushed to its limits. it hangs on with grit, persevering through the difficulty of the match up and proving that it rose up against death.

as it is felled on the ground by the combination of attacks, its eyes quickly dart to the easier target of the two, marking it the same way targets of the judge, jury and executioner have been marked before, braviary included.

oblivion wing targets the crawdaunt, siphoning its energy and simultaneously petrifying it.

"do you think you can find a cure for him too?" priam taunts. "or are you going to ignore him for this so called 'revenge'?"

the braviary manages to get back up, flapping its wings to remain airborne.

he isn't sure of thomas was in control of tapu koko or if they remain independent of each other. if either of them rampage, crawdaunt's statue has a high chance of being collateral.

priam respects loyalty, but he puts into question which one does thomas prioritize: his pokemon or this friend of his.

As the Oblivion Wing blasted the Crawdaunt, turning it into a statue, Thomas' eyes shot open in shock. This was the Shadow Braviary that Yveltal showed him in those visions, all those years ago. One of the Shadow Pokemon that the Emissary of Death so despised, that was to die.

Somehow, it gained the ability to use Oblivion Wing, which allowed it to petrify those subjected to it.

"Damn you.", Thomas venomously hissed. Internally, he had a plan. Bait out another Oblivion Wing, and allow it to hit the Crawdaunt. As with his encounter with Yveltal's Shard at The Border, he believed it should free him.

Thomas nodded to Tapu Koko. The Land Spirit tucked themselves into their shell, before launching themselves like a bullet at the corrupted Braviary in a Wild Charge.

Surely they couldn't resist the prospect of eliminating the League's Tapu Koko, right?

whether thomas overestimated priam's braviary, or he assumed that someone as proud as tapu koko wouldn't showcase its might, the ex-elite four finds himself watching the next sequence of events not going on as planned.

the braviary was thrown and knocked out with the tapu koko's force, unable to sustain back the energy with the same efficiency as yveltal's version of the attack could. a beam of light from its trainer's ball immediately recalls it back.

as much as priam wants to push the pokemon more, he finds kinship with the discarded child of the shinigami. both of them were unintended byproducts of circumstances, fodder that clings on to life on their valiant effort to hopelessly defying fate.

"that's rough," priam comments as shouts from a distance start to sound. "but, hey! i did you a favor!"

reinforcements from rocket arrive from behind priam after having bought enough time to stall thomas. each of them start releasing their pokemon, many of them genesect and the kind, as they swarm the area with sheer numbers.

"maybe one of 'em's the guy you're lookin' for! aren't i nice?"

slowly, numbers drown the scene. priam starts to blend in with the crowd as he's forced to retreat, making it difficult for thomas to spot him in the midst of chaos and war.
